Latin Name: Amyris Balsamifera  |  Plant Part: Wood & Branches  |  Origin: Jamaica  |  Extraction: Steam Distillation

Warm, creamy, and deeply grounding — Amyris is one of the finest woody base notes in aromatherapy and natural perfumery. Steam distilled from the wood and branches of Amyris Balsamifera grown in Jamaica, this 100% pure essential oil delivers a rich, balsamic-woody aroma that closely resembles true sandalwood — making it a highly valued and sustainable alternative.

Known locally as “candle wood” for its high oil content and ability to burn like a candle, Amyris has long been prized for its grounding, tranquil qualities.

Please note: Amyris (West Indian Sandalwood) is botanically distinct from true sandalwood (Santalum Album). It offers similar aromatic qualities at a more accessible price point.

  • Warm, creamy, balsamic-woody aroma — grounding and deeply calming
  • Excellent base note for natural perfumery and blending
  • Creates a tranquil, meditative atmosphere when diffused
  • Ideal in skincare and body oil formulations — softening and nourishing
  • Pairs beautifully with lavender, bergamot, ylang ylang, frankincense, and cedarwood
  • 100% pure, undiluted — no additives, carriers, or synthetic fragrance

Dilution guidance: Dilute to 2–3% in a carrier oil for topical use (approx. 12–18 drops per 30ml). Generally well tolerated — always patch test before use. Keep out of reach of children.

Blending notes: Amyris is an exceptional fixative — it anchors and extends lighter top notes in a blend. Pair with bergamot and lavender for a classic calming blend, or with ylang ylang and frankincense for a rich, exotic diffuser combination.

Storage: Store in a cool, dark place. Shelf life approximately 4–6 years from opening — woody oils are among the most stable.
