Professional Use
Sage is a specialist oil for the experienced practitioner. Its bold, structured aroma and functional properties make it valuable in treatment room blending, though its high thujone content requires careful client screening and conservative dilutions.
- Massage blends: Use at a maximum of 0.4% in leave-on blends. Sage works well in small amounts in clarifying or grounding massage blends alongside Rosemary and Cedarwood. Always screen clients for pregnancy, epilepsy, and medication use before including Sage.
- Diffusion in treatment rooms: 1–2 drops blended with Rosemary and Lemon creates a sharp, clarifying atmosphere suitable for focus-oriented sessions. Avoid prolonged diffusion and ensure good ventilation. Do not diffuse around pregnant clients.
- Inhalation protocols: 1 drop on a tissue or in a personal inhaler is sufficient for direct inhalation. Use with caution and for short durations only.
- Blending ratios: As a dominant top note, Sage typically works at 10–15% of a blend by drop count. A little goes a long way — overuse will overwhelm other components and increase safety risk.
