Steam distilled from the dried and fermented leaves of Pogostemon cablin — a member of the mint family native to Malaysia and India, where it is known as puchaput — this 50ml professional-grade oil from Indonesia is a cornerstone ingredient in natural perfumery, luxury skincare, and grounding aromatherapy blends. Its cultural history is as rich as its aroma: Victorian England demanded the scent of patchouli on imported Indian cashmere shawls as a mark of authenticity, and it became the defining fragrance of the 1960s counterculture movement. The word itself derives from the Tamil pachchai ilai — simply, “green leaf.”
