Source : Egypt.
Extraction Method : Steam Distillation.

Geranium Essential Oil is extracted through steam distillation from the leaves and stems of Pelargonium odoratissimum, commonly known as apple geranium. This oil presents a potent floral scent, complemented by subtle mint and apple undertones. Its primary therapeutic properties include promoting balance and uplifting effects, benefiting both mental and physical health by alleviating various conditions.

Geranium essential oil is effective in balancing both oily and dry skin, while calming the mind to reduce stress and anxiety. It is believed to support the adrenal cortex, helping to regulate the hormone system. This versatile oil has been traditionally used to address a variety of issues such as acne, bruises, burns, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, haemorrhoids, ringworm, ulcers, breast engorgement, oedema, poor circulation, sore throat, tonsillitis, PMS, menopausal symptoms, stress, and neuralgia. Its powerful scent naturally repels mosquitoes, and adding a few drops to shampoo can help eliminate head lice.

Geranium plants were traditionally thought to ward off spirits, much like their natural ability to repel mosquitoes, leading to their use as protective hedges around homes. Originating from regions such as South Africa, Reunion, Madagascar, Egypt, and Morocco, these plants were introduced to Europe in the 17th century. While there are around 700 varieties, only about 10 yield enough essential oil for practical extraction, as most garden varieties produce insufficient oil for this purpose.
