Professional Use
Cajaput is a reliable choice for therapists working with respiratory and muscular conditions. Its camphoraceous, penetrating character makes it effective in a range of treatment room applications:
- Massage blends: Dilute at 1% in a carrier oil for full-body massage targeting muscle tension and stiffness. Combine with Cypress and Black Pepper for a warming, circulatory blend, or with Eucalyptus and Peppermint for a cooling, decongestant effect.
- Chest and back protocols: Blend with Eucalyptus and Rosemary at 1% in a carrier for back massage during respiratory treatments. Effective for clients presenting with congestion, sinusitis, or seasonal respiratory complaints.
- Diffusion in treatment rooms: Use 4–6 drops in a diffuser to create a clean, clarifying atmosphere. Pairs well with Lemon and Rosemary for a focused, energising environment.
- Inhalation protocols: Add 2–3 drops to a bowl of hot water for steam inhalation at the start of a respiratory treatment. Instruct clients to keep eyes closed and inhale for 5–10 minutes.
- Blending ratios: As a middle-to-top note, use at 10–20% of a blend. Its strength means it can dominate — balance with softer base notes such as Cedarwood or Frankincense.
Safety: Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Not recommended for children under 6. Always dilute before skin application. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Screen clients with sensitive skin before use.
