Latin Name: Jasminum Officinale | Plant Part: Flowers | Source: India | Extraction: Solvent Extraction (Absolute)
Jasmine Absolute is one of the most prized and luxurious botanical extracts in the world of natural fragrance and aromatherapy. Sourced from the delicate flowers of Jasminum officinale, hand-picked at night when their fragrance reaches its peak intensity, this exquisite absolute captures the full, rich complexity of jasmine in a way that no synthetic fragrance can replicate.
Unlike steam-distilled essential oils, jasmine absolute is produced through solvent extraction — a meticulous process that preserves the flower's complete aromatic profile, including the heavier, more nuanced notes that give jasmine its characteristic warmth and depth. The result is a deeply concentrated, viscous oil with an intensely sweet, exotic, and richly floral scent that is both sensual and uplifting.
Aroma & Character
Jasmine Absolute has a warm, sweet, and intensely floral scent with honeyed, slightly fruity undertones and a soft, powdery dry-down. It is a classic heart-to-base note in natural perfumery, prized for its ability to add depth, warmth, and a sense of luxury to any blend. Even at very low concentrations, its presence is unmistakable.
Aromatherapy & Emotional Wellbeing
Jasmine has long been associated with emotional warmth, confidence, and romance. In aromatherapy, it is used to:
- Uplift mood and ease feelings of anxiety or low confidence
- Promote a sense of warmth, sensuality, and emotional openness
- Support relaxation without sedation — jasmine is calming yet energising
- Create a romantic, luxurious atmosphere in diffuser blends
Natural Perfumery
Jasmine Absolute is a cornerstone of natural perfumery and features in some of the world's most celebrated fragrances. It blends beautifully with rose absolute, sandalwood, bergamot, ylang ylang, patchouli, and neroli. A little goes a very long way — start with 1–2 drops in a blend and build from there.
Skincare
When diluted appropriately in a carrier oil or lotion, jasmine absolute is valued in skincare for its ability to support the appearance of dry, mature, or sensitive skin. It is often used to help improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Always dilute to 0.5–1% for facial use.
How to Use
- Diffusion: Add 1–2 drops to your diffuser alongside complementary oils such as bergamot or sandalwood
- Massage & body oil: Dilute at 1–2% in a carrier oil (approx. 5–10 drops per 30ml)
- Perfumery: Use as a heart or base note at 5–20% of your blend
- Skincare: Dilute to 0.5–1% in a facial carrier oil or cream
Safety & Dilution
Jasmine Absolute is generally well tolerated but should always be diluted before skin application. Avoid use during the first trimester of pregnancy. As with all absolutes, a patch test is recommended for those with sensitive skin. Keep out of reach of children. For full safety data, please refer to the IFRA certificate, Safety Data Sheet, and Allergen Declaration available below.
